How can I help?

“Everybody deserves to live on a clean street, right? I just want people to realize that if sanitation workers aren’t doing their jobs, and we aren’t appreciating them, then we’d be in a world of trouble.” – Terrill ‘YaFavTrashman’ Hagler

There are all kinds of ways, big and small, to show your support for sanitation workers and the difficult, and often dangerous work that they do.

STICK

One simple way you can show support, is sticking a #SUPPORTSANITATIONWORKERS to your recycling or trash bin.

By reviving Haigler’s hashtag from Summer of 2020, PTC hopes to renew efforts to support sanitation workers and promote awareness and activism across social media.

Stickers will be available for free at the PTC Box Office, at local recycling at upcycling partners such as FABSCRAP and The Neon Museum of Philadelphia, as well as other local community locations (as long as supplies last).

SORT

Be mindful of hazardous materials!

  • If you have something toxic, corrosive, flammable, or reactive to throw away please visit a local disposal site. Click to find your nearest location.
  • If you are disposing of a knife, broken glass or sharp objects, please take time to wrap sharp edges with cardboard or padding. Click here for a how to guide.
  • General Rule: IF YOU THINK IT MAY POSE A DANGER TO WORKERS, DO NOT SET IT OUT ON THE CURB — CONTACT 311

Want to get paid?

Yafavtrashman and his partners are also introducing an app called Glitter (the Lyft of litter) where you can sign up, report litter…and get paid… to help clear it.

SHARE

One of the first things we talked to Ya Fav about was his upcoming book “I’m Cool Too” inspired by conversations has with his own children about the stigma surrounding sanitation work.

Keep an eye for his book on shelves and share the love when you do!

The more we can teach ourselves and our children about how hard, yet important, this job is, the more we can destigmatize this crucial essential work.

Proceeds from the book go toward the continuation of Ya Fav’s amazing work — including his initiative toward zero litter in 2025!

Special thanks from PTC to Terrill “Yafavtrashman” who wakes up every day trying to make the city a better and cleaner place. Philadelphia is lucky to have you!
