Philadelphia Theatre Company’s Student Matinee Series provides an experience that includes civically engaged pre-show conversations with local civic organizations and post-show discussions with actors and members of the artistic team. Free companion workshops – held at the school either before or after the matinee – deepen the experience through hands-on, curriculum-connected activity.

LIBERATION
When Lizzie’s mother dies, she begins the journey of trying to remember who her mother was before giving birth to her. Moving between the past and the present, Lizzie recalls the group of women in the early 1970s who gathered to share stories about work, marriage, motherhood, race, desire, and ambition. What the women found was a place where courage, laughter, conflict, and possibility could exist.
