Carol Saline Playwriting Competition

PTC is proud to announce a new High School Playwriting Award in Memory of Carol Saline

PTC, along with Carol Saline’s widower, Paul Rathblott, has established a new high school playwriting competition for current sophomores and juniors in memory of Carol Saline, a longtime PTC board member and beloved friend of the theatre.

Carol Saline was an award-winning journalist, celebrated author, and tireless advocate for community service. A senior writer at Philadelphia Magazine for more than 30 years, she received two National Magazine Awards and co-authored the best-selling books Sisters, Mothers and Daughters, and Best Friends, which touched millions of readers nationwide.

About the Competition

The competition invites Philadelphia-area high school sophomores and juniors to submit an original 10-minute play. Students must be currently enrolled in a high school within the Philadelphia region.

The winning student will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Submissions Open: April 7, 2026
Submissions Close: June 2, 2026
Finalists Announcement: August 2026
Award Announcement: September 9, 2026
