Spend a week with PTC at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre on Avenue of the Arts! Mornings will be spent engaging with plays written by the fabulous Philadelphia Young Playwright (PYP) students. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the vocabulary of movement and dance to Philly-made rhythms, with daily post-lunch lessons focused on Philadelphia history to inform artistic expression. This will all build up to a final presentation of a collaboratively generated piece showcasing what the phrase “It’s a Philly Thing!” means to the students.
The week-long program will encompass inclusive team building and grounding activities to enhance creative play. Students will learn scene study, movement, team building, and some Philly history! — in a safe, constructive, and, most importantly, FUN creative space.
Spots are limited, so don’t hesitate! You can be the first “in line” when registration opens!
Extended Day rates are available. Summer daily drop-off begins as early as 8am, and pick-up extends to 5:30pm.
Refunds and Cancellations
- A $100 non-refundable deposit is required at registration.
- All balances for summer camp are due no later than July 22, 2024.
- No refunds are available for canceled registrations after July 15, 2024.
- Programs will not be prorated for partial or missed days.

Philadelphia Young Playwrights is dedicated to empowering young people through playwriting. Since its founding in 1987, it has provided opportunities for students in the Philadelphia area to develop their creative voices, express their ideas, and hone their writing skills through various programs, workshops, and productions. The organization believes in the transformative power of theater to amplify the voices of young playwrights, fostering creativity, confidence, and self-expression among youth.
Discover the Resident Playwrights program at Philly Young Playwrights, a unique opportunity tailored for emerging playwrights in grades 8-12. MEET THE EDUCATORS
Anjoli Santiago
Anjoli Santiago is a lifelong artist, balancing her passion for the evolutionary potential when education and creativity intersect. Stepping into the Director of Education and Public Programs role in September 2023 was a young artist’s whispered dream that took almost two decades to realize. She started as an actress/poet/teaching artist, dancing about city theatres and exercising the skills earned from a B.A. in Theatre at Temple University. During this time, she learned how vital communal access to arts is. The invitation to creativity is inherently inclusive.
Curious about how to stretch her brain, she became a NY Teaching Fellow, graduating with honors from CUNY City College with an M.S.Ed. She taught in the South Bronx as a Special Education and Creative Arts teacher for grades 6-12. Continued curiosity led her to develop after-school and summer programming for grades 6-8 with Liberty Leads from Bank Street College in Harlem.
In 2016, she connected with teachers nationwide with Classroom Champions, a wonderfully unique social and emotional curriculum connecting world-class athletes as mentors to K-8 classrooms.
In her spare time, she supports the Trauma-Informed Practice Training for Arts Administrators work offered by the Stockton Rush Bartol Foundation. The Bartol Foundation has also become a home for Anjoli to share her learnings about social and emotional learning with creatives and art administrators. She enjoys exploring how these practices can elevate our artistry, interpersonal relations with any generation, and our relationships with ourselves.
Madeleine Russell
Madeleine Russell (she/hers) is an actor and educator. She believes theater is an extraordinary avenue for learners of all ages to find and champion their creative voices. She has performed with Trinity Repertory Company, American Stage, Ars Nova, Atlantic Stage 2, Plays in Place, and The Flynn, and she has taught with theater education programs Courageous Stage and Beyond the Page. She holds her MFA in Acting from Brown University and her BA in Theater and History from Middlebury College.
